Framed Charms

Left over charms from my Tin Sampler of Summer in the City, an awesome collection from last year from Moda, was the inspiration for this quilt. 

I quilted this on my last Sewing Sunday & finished the binding last night.  I have washed the quilt, giving it that antique look and feel.

I mixed it in with the deepest darkest chocolate brown marble I have ever seen.  Most folks think it’s black until I put black next to it & then it really shines as a warm brown.

I framed the brown charms with a fun & funky floral from the Chloe collection by P&B/Janet Broxon.  A matching jelly roll would be a great way to add a little more pattern to this quilt.  The polka dot backing & binding is also from the Chloe line.

The lap quilt is 50x66, perfect for covering your tootsies & everything above them, or having room to share the covers if snuggling on the sofa. 

Hand Dyed Fabric

Last Saturday was our 1st Annual Dyeing Day & here are the fat quarters I created.  We dye with Procion MX dyes & Moda Bella Solids, pfd.

Remember that I recently dyed 2 similar red/orange/yellow FQ’s that I really liked, so I wanted to add to that collection.  In pressing these I kept thinking of lava.  Now trying to decide how to use them, since there are now 11!

Then I wanted to add to the blue from last time & came up with these 2.  not sure if the bright cyan is a completed piece yet.  It may get more dye next go round.

Well I knew I was not done with it.  Now it looks like this:

Done?  Not sure.  Definitely getting closer.

I also dyed several t’s & tanks for myself.  They are in the dresser already, so no pics of those, but they are just as groovy, baby!

Peonies in bloom

I love my peonies, so I thought you might too!  I snipped 4 of these today.  They are big as my fist.  Only 4 fit in the same vase as that whole arrangement I posted recently :)

Moda Boutique Lap Quilt

I LOVE the Boutique collection by Chez Moi for Moda!

This lap quilt is made from my own pattern (click here for color options) using the Boutique charm packs.  I made the quilt a couple months ago & just finally got it quilted this past weekend, on my Sewing Sunday.

I have listed the quilt on Etsy.  It is perfect for wheelchair use, as the drop is enough to cover for warmth without interfering with the operation of the chair, or for your wall or table or any other lap :)

From our hands

A group of ladies in my community are pooling our talents and sharing our skills to make a quilt for our County Fair.  This quilt will be taken to the state fair to compete against other counties this summer.

The entire quilt will be handwork.  I have not hand pieced since my first quilt, and realized that with time & quilting experience now under my belt, I really enjoy it much more.  So I encourage you that if you tried something years ago and said never again, try it again.  Maybe it suits the quilter you have become!

My ‘It’s a Wrap’ Basket

This is a really fun project and you can use up your scraps!  I used probably 90 feet of my 100’ clothesline and all the scraps from my last apron project.

Perfect Wallhanging

what I meant to say is that the sentiment is perfect.  I just had to have this panel when I saw it.  Surely every quilter that has visited a quilt shop has felt like doing one of these!
